Donald H. Morrison, B.A. MBA
Don Morrison was Chief Operating Officer- BlackBerry with Research in Motion, a position he held from 2000 until his retirement in the Fall of 2011. RIM saw unprecedented growth during his tenure as the Company grew profitably from $70M to more than $20B over 10 plus years. Mr. Morrison built an international organization from the ground up starting with a North American centric model that ultimately expanded to 550 carriers in more than 175 countries.
Prior to RIM, Mr. Morrison was President of Consumer and Small Business for AT&T Canada and prior to that, Group Vice President of Consumer and Small Business for Bell Canada. From 1990-94, Mr. Morrison assumed the role of Regional Vice President for AT&T's global services business for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In the late 80's Mr. Morrison was a lobbyist in Washington, and represented AT&T's trade interests for Europe to the US Congress and Administration and Defense community.
Mr. Morrison is the co-founder of the Morrison Family Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of the MasterCard Foundation, the Mind and Life Institute and the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT.
Mr. Morrison also continues to support projects focused on peace and security at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) in Waterloo, Ontario.
Mr. Morrison holds an MBA and a BA from the University of Toronto.
JLD (Laurie) Woodruff, FCA CPA
Mr. Woodruff joined Price Waterhouse(PW) in 1973. He was appointed Canadian leader of the Technology Industry Group (TIG) for PW in 1994. Elected to the Policy Board of PW Canada in 1996 and was a Member of the PW National Technology Advisory Group from 1987 to 1997. Mr. Woodruff was the PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) Canadian Leader of Technology, Infocomm, Entertainment and Media Group from 1999 to 2001. He was an elected member of the PW and PwC Partnership Boards from 1996 to 2001.
He was appointed leader of the PwC Canadian Audit & Business Advisory Services Practice from 2001 to 2008, and a Member of the PwC Global Audit Leadership Team, as well as a Member of the PwC Canadian Leadership Group.
Mr. Woodruff has more than thirty-five years of public practice experience in Auditing, Accounting, Business Planning, Financial Modelling, Future Oriented Financial Information, Going Concern Assumption, Prospectuses, Shareholders' Agreements, Acquisition and Divestiture Due Diligence, Canadian and U.S. Initial Public Offerings - for Canadian and foreign multi-national public clients, and Canadian private clients.
He is currently Director and Audit Committee Chair for Continental Case Company, Livingston International and MOSAID.
He was educated at Oxford University, England, BA Politics and Economics, 1973.
He became a Chartered Accountant, Ontario, 1976, and a Certified Public Accountant, Illinois, 1998, and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2003.
He was also elected to the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, 2001 to 2008, a Member of the Council Executive from 2005 to 2007, and Chair of the Capital Markets Leadership Task Force from 2005 to 2006.
Dr. Harry Zarek
In 1981 Dr. Zarek founded Compugen Inc., now one of Canada's largest IT Solution Providers. Under his stewardship, Compugen has realized growth that has consistently exceeded the industry average. Canadian owned and operated; headquartered in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Compugen has 1000 staff in fourteen offices across Canada.
The company provides technology infrastructure solutions focused on medium and large sized corporations and governments.
Compugen reported revenues for $443M in 2012.
In 2009, Compugen was awarded Worldwide Microsoft Partner of the Year for Desktop Deployment Solutions. In 2010, Compugen moved to a new headquarter building consisting of state of the art work space including a national call centre, datacentre and ISO-certified configuration centre.
Dr. Zarek focuses on sales and marketing activities and developing the long-term business strategy to position the company as a strategic business partner to its customers.
Dr. Zarek holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering Science and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Toronto. He is an active investor and member of the Board of Directors of a number of early stage technology companies in Canada and the U.S.
